Hearing Evaluations:

We offer complimentary hearing evaluations to encourage timely action. While we regularly have our vision assessed, our hearing often remains overlooked.
The earlier hearing loss is identified, the sooner we can help enrich your quality of life!

Sensorineural Hearing Loss: Sensorineural hearing loss occurs due to damage within the inner ear or the nerves connecting to the inner ear. This is the most common form of hearing loss and is often age-related. Over time, the hair cells within the cochlea gradually wear down, impairing the ability to hear.
Conductive Hearing Loss: Conductive hearing loss is caused by blockages or issues in the outer or middle ear. Common causes include excessive earwax buildup or fluid accumulation behind the eardrum, which can hinder sound transmission.
Mixed Hearing Loss: Mixed hearing loss is a combination of both sensorineural and conductive hearing loss, meaning there are issues in both the inner ear and the outer or middle ear.

Understanding the Evaluation Process

During your first visit, you will meet with a licensed and highly regarded Hearing Instrument Specialist. This is your opportunity to share your hearing experiences, helping us gain valuable insight into your daily life. Once we understand the reason for your visit, the specialist will utilize video otoscopy to examine your ear drum, giving you the chance to view it yourself! The hearing test will then be thoroughly explained before you enter the sound booth. Clear instructions and expectations will be provided as the test proceeds.
Our standard tests encompass: “Unaided Discrimination, Quick-SIN (speech in noise), Audiometric air and Bone testing, Speech Reception Thresholds (SRT), Most Comfortable Levels (MCL), Uncomfortable Levels (UCL), and an Aided discrimination result. Each test is thoroughly explained.
After testing: After the test is completed, a full review of results are also explained. We are happy to answer any questions you might have! Your provider will ensure you are well informed so that you may partake in your treatment plan, if one is deemed necessary. We will clearly outline all treatment options appropriate for the results of your assessment.
